This study aimed to analyze the most prominent mechanisms and procedures of internal democracy in political parties in contemporary liberals, in terms of the method of selecting party candidates in general elections, the mechanism for selecting party leaders, how to determine the positions and policies of the party on various issues, and the impact of internal democracy on the strength and cohesion of parties and their performance of their functions. The study concluded that political parties in contemporary democracies are moving towards increasing and activating the manifestations and procedures of internal democracy, as the methods of selecting candidates, party leaders, decision-making mechanisms and policy-making have become more comprehensive, and one of the reasons why democratic parties took this trend is the belief that internal democracy increases the legitimacy of political parties, helps to increase the number of members, and increase the party's chances of electoral competition.
