Abstract

The study aims at answering three main inquiries concerning the current state of development and its issues in the State of Kuwait. First, the study highlights the challenges and issues facing planning for development in the State of Kuwait. Secondly, the study aims at highlighting the challenges facing the implementation of development plans, and thirdly the study proposes a set of recommendations to overcome the obstacles facing the planning and implementation of developmental efforts in Kuwait.
The study adopted a qualitative methodological approach, relying on the analysis of a set of national and international development indicators, in addition to the analysis of the current literature on the state of development in Kuwait.
The results of the study highlight the importance of the enhancements of governance practices based on strategic management approaches, in addition to a broader incorporation of stakeholders in the development process.
