Abstract

This study seeks to reveal the governing considerations of Russian foreign policy from a geopolitical perspective, considering that the distinctive feature of Russia's foreign policy is that it already stems from its geopolitical position as one of the largest Eurasian powers, as its fate is governed by its territory, and the study also aims to analyze the priority of Russia's neighboring countries in their foreign policy. To achieve these goals, the study was based on the inductive approach and the geopolitical approach. The study showed that Ukraine's importance outweighs Russia's neighbors, which explains Russia's move towards Ukraine in 2013 and its annexation of Crimea in 2014. The study also showed that Russia has a geopolitical vision to impose a new global balance of power by transforming it into multipolarity, along with defending its interests against attempts by the West to undermine it.
