Knowledge is the engine of the new economy

Abstract

Management studies over decades have ignored the process of creating knowledge and the way it is transformed into value as an important resource for the effectiveness of organizations and achieving a global competitiveness. The objective of this research is to identify the role of knowledge in the new economy, how to classify industries according to knowledge density, examining the relationship between productivity and increase returns in the knowledge based economy, the role of knowledge management in explaining differences of success between organizations. The study provides new insights into the understanding and analysis of the knowledge economy. This perspective looks at the knowledge economy as an integrated chain of production and integration of knowledge. Critical inputs to production and the primary source of value are knowledge. The essence of a knowledge economy is the creation, transfer, and use of knowledge to serve the community and solve its problems and achieve high economic growth rates.
