Abstract

Liberalism is one of the most important theories in international relations. It belongs to positivist theories, which give recognition of power as a main concept in international relations with two exceptions: First, power is considered as an economic power. Second, states are not the only actors in international affairs. Liberalism has two main pillars, Classical Liberalism and Neo-Liberalism. Moreover, Liberalism has an important literature and
many authors such as: Kant, Bentham, Fukuyama, Doyle, Nay and Keohane. Liberalism admitted economic, democratic peace, utility and complex interdependence. However, Liberalism explains cooperation among
international actors. Liberalism faces many critics, but these critics cannot eliminate or revoke the importance of Liberalism in the field of international relations.
