Abstract

This research is aimed at the Russian Iranian relations between the challenges of ideological contradiction and the requirements of the national interest during the period from 1979-2017. In the first section of the research ،
the researcher discussed the history and historical roots of Russian-Iranian relations in three chapters. The first chapter discussed the Caesarean era، while the second chapter discussed the relations in the era of the Cold War
between the United States and the Soviet Union. The researcher concluded the first section by dealing with the Russian Iranian relations after the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union in the third chapter. In the
second section of this study the researcher discussed the decision-making process in the Russian and Iranian regimes and covered the political ideology of the two regimes in the third section. The researcher concluded the study in the fourth chapter in the common grounds of Russian-Iranian relations. During the study، the researcher sought to serve the aim of the research represented in several questions mentioned at the beginning of the study in the research introduction. Based on the above، the researcher reached a number of results and recommendations of the study that concluded the research، and they will be summarized in this article.
