The research aims to analyze the relationship between foreign direct investment and the environment in Egypt. The paper reviews the important role that foreign direct investment plays in supporting economic development by providing administrative and technological experiences, means of modern technology, and supporting research and development programs and others, in addition to its importance as a source of finance for sustainable development at the global and local level, all developed and developing countries compete to attract foreign investment by providing more support, benefits, and the climate it requires and its impact on the environment. The research indicates that the relationship between foreign direct investment and the environment is characterized by a change between positive and negative impacts in different countries and study period as a result of the influence of that relationship by many intertwining and intertwining factors. The research deals with an aspect of standard analysis to determine the relationship between foreign direct investment flows and environmental pollution during the period (1990-2014). The results indicated that the relationship is reversed, which reflects that Egypt is moving in the right direction in attracting foreign direct investments, and it is pursuing policies to make progress on the economic side, taking into account the protection and preservation of the environment.
