The effects of the Syrian crisis on Russian-Turkish relations during the period 2015-2021

Abstract

.From time to time, Russian-Turkish relations go through a state of tension and attraction as a result of the reflection of many international and regional variables on these relations, and it is natural that the interests of the two countries will never completely coincide, given the great aspirations of the two countries, each of which has imperial traditions in an old and renewed. Between the two countries is always dominated by continuous competition, while their areas of direct influence intersect on the international and regional space surrounding them, and the Syrian crisis came to highlight the extent of the disagreement in the visions of both countries. The issue of the Kurds inside Turkish territory, so Ankara chose military intervention in Syria to cut off the links of the Kurdish project with each other, through its control of the cities of "Jarablus" and "Al-Bab" through its military operations, which it called "Euphrates Shield," which is followed by multiple other military operations. The fact that the independence of the Syrian Kurds will impose repercussions that will undoubtedly leave an impact on the aspirations of Turkish Kurdish nationalism inside Turkey, whether by secession in a new Kurdish state or by an Arab relationship A federation in which the Kurds enjoy a kind of autonomy, which in turn will threaten Turkish national security, which did not concern the Russian decision-maker, and created a state of divergence in positions and visions not only on the level of the Syrian crisis, but on the level of many related issues between the two countries, including the Turkish penetration into the Central Asian republics.
