The impact of European official development assistance to Egypt on government strategies in the period 2011-2016

Abstract

The study aimed to examine the impact of official development assistance provided by the European Union to Egypt during the period from 2011 to 2016 on the process of developing governmental development strategies in the economic and social sectors, as well as on the process of launching new strategies by examining the role of the external factor and its impact on the political decision-making process. And formulating the state’s general policies in a particular economic or social sector by directing indicators and providing technical advice from the European side to the Egyptian side to adopt strategies, whether new or developed, and the study concluded that European aid has already led to the development of several governmental strategies, on top of which the technical education and vocational Training sector strategy. This assistance also contributed to launching new strategies such as the Egyptian energy sector strategy and several strategies to deal with the Egyptian solid waste sector.
