This study focuses on analyzing the nature and course of Russian-Turkish relations in the period between the end of the Cold War to the date of the Russian military intervention in Ukraine. The study deals with the root reasons of that crisis, the Russian motives behind that intervention, and the Turkish position on the Russian-Ukrainian war, and it attempts to assess the repercussions of this crisis on the future of Russian-Turkish relations. Since Turkey is located on the front line between Russia and Ukraine due to its being a member of NATO, and for considerations of strategic partnership with the two countries, in particular Russia, there are many intertwined regional and international files between them, starting with the files of Syria and Libya, all the way to the files of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which puts it under pressure to balance its obligations under the alliance and the increasing strategic dependence on Russia, which prompted it to move with cautious steps in the recent crisis by taking a position of almost neutral solidarity, since the beginning of the crisis, between condemning the Russian military intervention on a sovereign state, and refraining from adopting any hostile stance towards Russia and avoidance of making any concessions that harm its economic, security and strategic interests, whether directly or in other regional and international files intertwined with the conflict parties, and offering a regional mediation leadership between the two conflict parties .
