Since the end of the Cold War, the U.S.A has had a grand strategy in the international system. The main object of this strategy is to maintain its dominance all over the world's regions. Whereas West Africa was one of the regions that China has boosted its presence in, the U.S.A several strategies documents, such as the U.S. National Security Strategy and the U.S. Strategy Towards Sub-Saharan Africa, have considered China's influence in West Africa as a Status threat to the U.S.A. Utilizing the Content Analysis method, this study surveys the contexts in which China and West Africa appear in the U.S.A strategies. By comparing the U.S.A strategies during Barack Obama and Donald Trump administrations, this study concluded that the U.S.A strategy in West Africa was developed and directed by the Chinese expanded influence in the region.
