Evaluating bank financing experiences for small projects: the experiences of Grameen Bank and Amanat Ikhtiyar Malaysia with reference to Egypt

Abstract

The research sought to study the role of microfinance banks in developing small enterprises sector using an analytical method in presenting and evaluating the experiences of Grameen Bank (Bangladesh) and Amanat Ikhtiar Malaysia as the most prominent experiences of Bank financing for small enterprises; The research dealt with their organizational structure, funding programs and the mechanism of providing and benefiting from them. The research used several graphic, statistical, and econometric methods (OLS) To test the hypothesis of the research; microfinance banks have a major role in the development of small enterprises in developing countries and proved its validity. The research also dealt with a brief presentation of Egypt's experience in financing small enterprises, especially the Social Fund for Development (later the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises Development Agency), and how it benefited from the experiences of Grameen Bank and Amanat Ikhtiar Malaysia; The research presented a mechanism for developing bank financing for small enterprises in Egypt through the establishment of a bank specialized in financing small enterprises.
