Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the impact of the knowledge economy on the economic dimension of sustainable development in Egypt, and to estimate the parameters of that relationship in the short and long term, relying on the ARDL model, the Bounds Test methodology, and the Error Correction Model (ECM). The results of the boundary test resulted in the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship moving from the knowledge economy to the economic dimension of sustainable development, where the economic dimension of sustainable development is positively affected by both foreign direct investment as a ratio to the gross domestic product expressed by the financial openness index, and credit provided to the private sector as a ratio To the gross domestic product expressed as a financing index, and the presence of a negative, insignificant effect of foreign trade as a percentage of the domestic product on the economic dimension of sustainable development. There is a high agreement between the short-term results and the long-term results, in addition to the high explanatory power of the model and the high value of the correction factor for any short-term imbalances.
