The study dealt with the strategy that followed by North Korea in using tool of nuclear deterrence towards the United States, and to achieve that, the research was initiated by studying the concept of nuclear deterrence in international relations. Also the study dealt with the national interests of North Korea (whether what threatens these interests or what it wants to achieve) Because these interests is the main motive for the behavior of states, and North Korea's nuclear deterrence capabilities were also dealt with, given that these capabilities help us in trying to deduce the targeted strategy, and from this approaches The study attempted to identify the mechanism used by North Korea in using the nuclear deterrence tool against the United States of America, The conclusion of the study is that North Korea relied on more than one mechanism (strategy) intertwined with each other in order to achieve its interests, as it relied on the strategy of deterrence with retaliation and at the same time relying on a minimum level of deterrence that allows for damage that the United States cannot bear if it tried to overthrow the regime in North Korea.
