Abstract

Abstract:
This research aims to study food security policies in the European Union in light of the Russian/Ukrainian war.
Food security in Europe faces mounting challenges in the 21st century, despite the existence of factors that generally enable European countries to achieve self-sufficiency and food security.
These challenges become more severe in times of crisis, such as wars and natural disasters, when food prices rise sharply, and exporting countries become more likely to refrain from exporting those goods due to security and strategic considerations.Accordingly, the study stemmed from a research question: To what extent did the Russian/Ukrainian war affect European food security? The results of the study showed the European Union's contributions to mitigating the impact of the Russian/Ukrainian crisis on food security in the European Union. The European Union has been able to avoid a severe food shortage through numerous contributions and international cooperation. The study recommended that the European Union continue to increase the efficiency of agricultural resource use, which helps ensure the sustainability of agricultural production.
