This paper examines the pro-Palestine movements at U.S. universities, particularly following the events of October 7, 2023. The study explores the contradiction between the U.S. government's strong support for Israel and the widespread student solidarity with Palestinians. Utilizing group theory and world-systems analysis, the paper delves into the dynamics of these movements. The analysis covers the historical context of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the economic and political dimensions of Gaza's de-development, and the role of U.S. universities as sites of activism. The paper also addresses the U.S. response to these movements, including repression, containment, and co-optation, both domestically and internationally. By integrating perspectives from anti-systemic movements and group theory, the study provides a comprehensive understanding of the pro-Palestine activism in the context of the capitalist world economy. The findings underscore the enduring relevance of anti-systemic movements in advocating for global justice and equality, emphasizing the interconnectedness of contemporary social justice initiatives.
