Abstract

This study aims to shed light on the nature and trends of German foreign policy towards Iraq in light of the third Gulf War in 2003, and the study used the inductive approach and the main research tool here is the observation, by extrapolating the political reality in the study period for Germany and Iraq. As for Germany's position on the third Gulf War of 2003, it came as a reflection of the nature of its new role on the European scene first, and the Arab scene second, especially with the arrival of the Social Democratic Party to the leadership of the German government headed by Gerhard Schroeder, who worked on drawing an independent line for German foreign policy away from American dependency.
